On June 13, 2025, the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship came alive at the South Cape TVET College Mossel Bay Campus during the annual Inter-College Entrepreneurship Competition. GRIT Hub was proud to be a key supporter and sponsor of the event, standing alongside partners including MTN, Vodacom, ABSA Bank, Nedbank, and the National Business Initiative (NBI) to uplift and empower the next generation of business leaders.

The competition brought together some of the most promising young entrepreneurs from across the college’s campuses, each presenting compelling business ideas and ventures under the themes “I Have a Business Idea,” “I Have a General Business,” and “I Have an Artisan Business.” The event served as a platform to showcase student talent, creativity, and entrepreneurial grit, with winners advancing to represent the college at the regional and national levels.

2025 Judges
Judges included Vodacom ex-CCO, Gideon Hugo; NBI Technical Advisor, Sa-at Abrahams; GRIT Hub CEO, Marshall Grant; and NYDA District Manager, Judith Morrison

Marshall Grant, CEO of GRIT Hub, was honored to serve as a judge during the competition, lending his insight and experience in entrepreneurship and digital innovation to help evaluate the student pitches. The level of innovation, professionalism, and confidence shown by the students was both inspiring and a powerful reminder of the potential embedded in South Africa’s youth.

“At GRIT Hub, we believe that entrepreneurship is one of the most powerful tools we have to drive inclusive economic growth,” said Marshall Grant. “It’s not just about starting businesses, it’s about building confidence, solving local problems, and unlocking untapped potential. Watching these students pitch their ideas with such clarity and courage was a proud moment for all of us.”

One of the standout moments of the day was the selection of Tshiamo Moleko as the overall winner. Tshiamo impressed the judging panel with his innovative venture, Lonnec: a digital platform that connects online township shoppers with reliable food delivery solutions. Lonnec addresses a critical gap in last-mile delivery for underserved communities, blending convenience with impact. Tshiamo’s vision and pitch were a clear reflection of the entrepreneurial potential that exists when young people are empowered with the right tools and support.

In addition to judging, GRIT Hub provided direct support to the student entrepreneurs through its business incubation program. All of the students who competed had participated in the GRIT Hub development pipeline, receiving mentorship, tools, and access to resources that helped them refine their concepts and pitch with confidence.

This partnership underscores GRIT Hub’s commitment to building a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem across the Garden Route region. By working closely with institutions like South Cape TVET College and national partners like NBI, GRIT Hub ensures that young innovators are equipped not only with ideas but with the skills and networks they need to turn those ideas into viable businesses.

We extend our congratulations to all participants and winners of the 2025 competition and look forward to continuing our work in shaping a thriving, youth-led entrepreneurial future.
